On May 10, 2025, Advocate Skate Works had the honor of participating in the grand opening of the Sandusky Wheels Park, a milestone moment for the local skate and BMX community. This exciting event was the result of a powerful collaboration between Halo Live, Sandusky Parks and Recreation, the Sandusky Arts Council, Sandusky Bay Poster Works and an incredible lineup of sponsors and supporters.
We’re especially grateful to Huffy BMX for their generous support and presence at the event. Special thanks go out to BMX pro Nick Bruce, Kevin Terpening from Swim Skateboards, and our always-supportive friends at Vans for helping bring this day to life. A massive shoutout goes to Spohn Ranch for designing and building the amazing new park—an incredible space for skaters and riders of all ages and abilities.
The day was filled with energy and excitement, which kicked off with a bench dedication to our friend and local skater Jason "Jaws" Ricardson. Pro riders and instructors hosted mini clinics, sharing skills and stoke with local riders. We had the pleasure of giving away skateboards and raffling off BMX bikes, thanks again to the generous contribution from Huffy BMX.
Adding to the atmosphere, live performances from Raging Nathans, The Dead Hands, Ooongow, and Mentally Distracted kept the crowd entertained throughout the day. Their music created the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable community celebration.
We’d also like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to every vendor who came out to share their unique goods and to all the food trucks that kept us fueled throughout the event.
To everyone who came out, supported, rode, skated, or simply showed up to be part of the day, thank you. We had an incredible time, and we can’t wait to do it all again. Stay tuned for more events!
